City Clerk
As the official record keeper for the City, the City Clerk's Office serves as the City's informational center and serves the City Council, the various City departments and the citizens of this community pursuant to Federal, State and local statutes.
The Clerk’s Office provides administrative, legislative, and secretarial support to:
- City Council
- Water District
- Public Facilities Corporation
- Public Financing Authority
- Fire District
Prepares City Council agendas and publishes legal notices as required by California law
Records all minutes, adopted legislation, policy documents and contracts approved by the City Council, subsidiary districts and agency Boards
Manages all City elections and Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) administrative filings
Administers oaths of office to all City elected officials and Council-appointed commission/committee members
Maintains original City deeds and easements
Coordinates various administrative policy matters
Maintains the City’s legal library
Accepts and records claims, lawsuits and summons filed upon the City
Administers the City Council adopted Records Management Program which deals with the active and inactive storage, retention, and destruction of City records in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Utilizes an optical imaging and electronic storage program to protect and preserve the City’s permanent and historical documents and add to the ease of retrieval
Processes record requests, receives claims, prepares proclamations
Cities with voting districts are required to update district maps following the release of the decennial US Census Data. The City of Hesperia adopted revised City Council District boundaries on April 5, 2022. For more information on redistricting, please visit this link.
